President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad has been attacked on social media by netizens for rooting for Cameroon ahead of their clash against Egypt in AFCON 2021 Semi-Final.

Naija News reports that Egypt on Thursday night defeated Cameroon after a 1-3 penalty shoutout.

The 2021 African Cup of Nation is hosted in Cameroon and the host’s national team were denied a chance to the final last night, leaving them with the option of contesting for third place against Burkina Faso.

Naija News understands that Ahmad had on Thursday ahead of the semi-final clash taken to his verified Twitter page to declare his support for Cameroon to win the match.

The Indomitable Lions were however defeated 3-1 by the Pharaohs in a penalty shootout.

After the match, social media users castigated Ahmad for ‘airdropping’ his bad luck on the host team.

A Cameroonian lady identified simply as Santher on the microblogging platform reacted to Ahmad’s support post saying “Who asked you to root for us, you airdropped your bad luck.”

Please support Chelsea. Please.”

Joke taken too far, one @AfiariSunny had to include President Buhari in his reaction, noting that the Nigerian leader and the All Progressive Congress, APC are with bad luck at everything.

He tweeted: “There are things that can’t change, like attracts like. It is a known fact, proven beyond reasonable doubt that anything Buhari, APC and his minions touch dies, if they wish anybody luck, my thats sure bad luck. Abeg bashir who go win finals? Men gats cashout”.

Also accusing the Buhari administration of having bad luck, a Nigerian citizen [@Odins_Asgard] reacting to Ahmad’s support to Cameroon tweeted: “Agent of failures…. anything you touch gets destroy from Super Eagles to “Indomie Lions” of Cameroon.

On the defensive, a Nigerian citizen with the username [@ihe69] said Cameroon only got what they deserve, alleging that they tried to bribe their way into winning this year’s AFCON.
The netizend tweeted: “I celebrated Cameroon defeat as if I won jackpot. Even Ivoiriens rooted for Egypt, despite Eto being their Inlaw. You wanted to win through mago mago, but God catch una. Try next time.”
