Yemi Itodo, New SSA on New Media to Governor Samuel Ortom

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has approved the appointment of Prince Yemi Itodo as his Senior Special Assistant on New Media.

Naija News understands that appointee is an ace online journalist based in Abuja.

Itodo’s appointment was confirmed in a letter dated 31st January, 2022 and signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Anthony Ijohor (SAN).

The letter mentioned that the media personnel’s appointment was based on merit and with immediate effect.

The appointment letter read partly: “Your appointment, which is based on merit is also a call to National Service. It is expected, therefore, that you will mobilize all the sterling qualities, which singled you out for this appointment to justify the confidence reposed in you”.

Naija News understands that the appointee has since transmitted his acceptance of the appointment, pledging to discharge his “duties and responsibilities with commitment, diligence” and to the best of his ability.

Itodo hails from Otukpa, Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State. He was trained at the Benue Polytechnic, Ugbokolo and International Institute of Journalism, Abuja.

Having served as a media consultant to several agencies and public office holders in the past, Itodo is currently the Chairman of National Assembly New Media, and a staff of a leading online newspaper in Nigeria among others, Naija News understands.

In other news, former Vice-Chancellor of the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele, has been appointed as new Vice-Chancellor of Anchor University, Lagos.

The new VC, Naija News understands, holds a First Class degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Benin in 1983.

He also had his Master’s and PhD degrees from the University of Ibadan and became a Professor in 2001.

Confirming Bandele’s appointment, the Registrar of the varsity, Moses Salami, said the academician assumed office on Tuesday after the handing over ceremony at the Senate Chambers.

Bandele took over from the pioneer VC, Prof. Joseph Afolayan.

The former VC while giving his valedictory speech, recounted several achievements of the institution, despite its “teething problems”.
