Just In: Heavy Security As FG Set To Arraign Nnamdi Kanu’s Co-accused On Terrorism

Heavy security presence has been reported at the Federal High Court in Abuja as the Federal Government is set to arraign Nnamdi Kanu’s co-accused on terrorism charges.

Reports reaching Naija News at the moment confirmed that the arraignment is scheduled to hold before Justice Binta Nyako of the FHC on Wednesday (today).

As of when this report was given, the four accused, Bright Chimezie, Chidiebere Onwudike, Benjamin Maduagwu and David Nwaurusi are already seated in the courtroom waiting for the proceeding.

Heavily armed operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, are said to have taken positions in and around the court premises to ward off the possible threats to peace by their followers.

Daily Post reports that both Justice Nyako and counsel to the Federal Government, Mr Shuaib Magaji Labaran are yet to arrive at the court as at the moment.

Meanwhile, counsel to the defendants, led by Ifeanyi Ejiofor has since been sighted at the court waiting for the commencement of proceedings.

Naija News had reported earlier that the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has asked members of the outlawed group to be ready to embrace peace during this time.

The lead counsel to the IPOB leader, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, made this known on Monday during an interview with reporters in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

Ejiofor disclosed that Kanu asked IPOB members to participate in the ongoing peacemaking process during a visit to him at the Department of State Security (DSS) detention facility in Abuja on Thursday.

The lawyer also said his client stated that the ongoing interventions towards peaceful coexistence must be respected, encouraged and adhered to by all IPOB members.

He, however, said the IPOB leader advised his supporters not to be distracted by those plotting to frustrate the realization of Biafra, Naija News reports.
