Over 3,000 PDP Members Dumps Party To Join APC In Yobe

Yobe State chapter of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC has received no fewer than three thousand defectors from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The defectors, Naija News understands are all from the Fika Local Government Area area of the state.

The politicians were received into the broom party on Tuesday by APC Chairman-elect in the state, Mohammed Gadaka.

The welcome ceremony for the new entrants was reportedly held in Fika town and attracted political gladiators as well as other critical stakeholders from Yobe South.

Speaking at the event, Gadaka applauded the defectors for the decision, assured them of equal reception as well as old members of the party.

The party chairman said APC’s doors are always open to receive defectors from opposition parties in the state.

Giving their reasons for dumping their former camp, the defectors said they were attracted to join APC due to Governor Mai Mala Buni’s visionary leadership which has translated into executing people-oriented projects for the betterment of the state.

This is coming a few days after a thousand members of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State.

A governorship aspirant in the 2019 general election, Dr Aji Kolomi, had reportedly led the group of the defectors to the opposition party, Naija News learnt.

Confirming the development, PDP’s Publicity Secretary in Yobe, Hon. Salihu Mohammed Baba said in a statement made available to newsmen that Kolomi joined the umbrella camp alongside hundreds of his supporters and were received at the party’s secretariat in Damaturu, the state capital.

According to Baba, the opposition party since it kicked off the Operation Flush APC In Yobe has received over 1,000 APC loyalists into its fold.

He explained that the new entrants, comprising of men and women, were mostly from Abasha, Layin PS and Malaria areas within the metropolis.
