Chairman VOR, Olufemi Adegoke Is Dead

Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide has comiserated with the Adegoke’s over the demise of their beloved, Dr. Olufemi Adegoke.

Naija News understands that the deceased was the Chairman of the Pan-Yoruba intelligentsia group, Voice of Reason (VOR).

The cause of the death of the medical veteran who hailed from Ondo Town in Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State was, however, not made public in the statement released on Friday night by the Yoruba group.

Naija News understands that Adegoke was the father of a Nigerian-born member of the British Parliament, Olukemi Olufunto Badenoch.

The lawmaker, a Conservative Party member, served in Boris Johnson’s government as Minister of State for Levelling Up Communities and Minister of State for Equalities.

In its condolence message, the Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide described Adegoke as a man of unquestionable character.

The group’s spokesman, Maxwell Adeleye said the deceased was resolute and committed towards the decommissioning of Nigerian’s 1999 Constitution.

Adeleye recalled that Adegoke spent his last years working for the advancement and liberation of Yorubas.

He said: “He was an unparalleled patriot of the Yoruba people and an intellectual giant whose courage and candour goes beyond the cosmos”.

The body, led by Professor Banji Akintoye, sympathized with the Adegokes and prayed that God will give them the fortitude to bear the loss.

In another news earlier, a final year student of Bayero University Kano, Babangida Ahmad, has died in his hostel in the wee hours of Friday morning, January 28, while preparing to go to the mosque for morning prayers.

Bala Abdullahi, the Secretary, Information and Publication of the University, who confirmed the death of the deceased said he was a student of the Department of Library and Information Science.

He said: “The University management has contacted his parents about the incident and would be taken to his hometown for burial according to Islamic rites.”

A colleague of the deceased stated that he left the room at about 4:30 am when he suddenly slumped. He was rushed to the university clinic where he was confirmed dead on arrival.

“Prior to his death, the deceased has been visiting Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) to see doctors on certain undisclosed ailment,

“According to hospital records, he had visited AKTH about seven times within the last one year, with his last visit on the 10th of January, 2022. His next appointment at the AKTH was on 7th February, 2022.”
