Prominent Ijaw Leader, Chief Edwin Clark has thrown his weight behind the 2023 presidential ambition of former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

Clark however gave a condition that will make him support Saraki’s presidential ambition.

According to the Ijaw leader, if the south doesn’t produce a consensus candidate then Saraki will be his choice candidate to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Naija News understands Clark made the submission in Abuja when a team supporting Saraki’s 2023 presidential ambition led by Prof Iyorwuese Hagher paid him a visit.

“We have been agitating for the presidency to be zoned to the south. However, if we fail to come up with a consensus candidate in the South, I will have no option but to support Dr. Bukola Saraki,” Chief Clark was quoted to have said.

In supporting Saraki’s ambition, Clark said he believes the former Senate President is “the best for Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, Governor David Umahi has asked former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to leave him out of the problem rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Reacting to a statement credited to Atiku, Umahi the former vice president and the PDP to stop linking him with their woes.

Atiku had through Raymond Dokpesi, the Chairman of the Technical Committee for the actualization of Atiku Abubakar Presidential ambition, described Umahi as heartless for unjustly sealing the Ebonyi PDP secretariat and the continued detention of the party’s spokesperson in police custody.
