The Abuja office Thisday newspaper was invaded by some unknown gunmen on Thursday.

The newspaper, in a statement, said that the gunmen stormed the office located in Utako District in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) around 3 a.m.

The statement added that the gunmen forced their way into the office and threatened to kill the staff on duty if they attempt to contact the police.

It added that the gunmen left after ransacking the office for about 45 minutes and told the staff that they would be back again.

The newspaper said the incident has been reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, in Utako.

The statement reads: “Although the mission of the armed men, who arrived the premises at about 3.am Thursday has yet to be ascertained, the company’s private security men, who were on duty, said that as soon as the gunmen pushed their way into the office of the newspaper they started maltreating the production staffer, and threatened to “kill all of them if they attempted to alert policemen.

Naija News reports it’s not the first time the organization will come under attack in recent times as about 10 years ago, suicide bombers almost simultaneously attacked the newspaper’s offices in the FCT and Kaduna state, killing 11 people.
