The former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has commended the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde over the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state on Wednesday.

Naija News had earlier reported that Fayose’s anointed aspirant, Bisi Kolawole emerged as the flagbearer of the party in the forthcoming governorship election.

Fayose lauded governorship aspirants in the party, members and supporters for their conduct during the exercise.

The former Governor in a statement released through his spokesman, Lere Olayinka said Makinde has proved to be “a man of his words and he deserved to be appreciated.”

“By ensuring a level playing ground before and during the primary election, Governor Makinde has further earned my respect.”

Fayose called on Governor Makinde to support Ekiti PDP to win the June 18 election so that his position as the only governor in the South-West “will be further strengthened”.

He also commended the former governor of the state, Segun Oni “for his exemplary display of the spirit of sportsmanship”.

The PDP chieftain pleaded that whatever happened before and during the primary should be forgotten as no group can win an election alone.

“All stakeholders should rest assured of their rightful place in the new arrangement,” Fayose said.
