Ex-President Buhari Reacts As Abuja Mosque Chief Imam Loses Mother

President Muhammadu Buhari has sympathized with the Ahmad family on the demise of the former Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Hamman Ahmad.

Naija News understands that the former customs boss died on Wednesday, January 26 at the age of 78 years.

A relative of the deceased, Ibrahim Ahidjo who confirmed the sad development to newsmen earlier, said Ahmad gave up the ghost while receiving treatment at a hospital in Abuja.

In a condolence message signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, on Wednesday, President Buhari described the deceased as a humble gentleman.

He said Nigeria has just lost one of its best-trained sons.

“His nearly four decades of service to the motherland was marked by exceptional knowledge of the field and commitment to duty in the Customs,” Buhari’s condolence message reads.

It added, “After his retirement, he continued to serve the nation through investment in agriculture in response to the calls of the government for citizens to go back to the land.”

The President also commiserated with the Adamawa Emirate Council and the State Government on behalf of the nation while he also prayed for the repose of his soul.

Meanwhile, a few days after the death of five-year-old Hanifa Abubakar struck the internet, another girl identified as Zuwaira Gambo has been killed in Kano State.

Recall that the proprietor of Hanifa’s school, Abdulmalik Tanko admitted to having abducted Hanifa and murdered her with poison.

The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje while speaking at the Government House on Wednesday announced the murder of 12-year-old Zuwaira Gambo.

Ganduje stated this when he received the Executive Secretary, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Tony Ojukwu, represented by a Commissioner, Abubakar Muhammad.

The Kano State Governor was visited by the federal agency’s leadership over the death of Hanifa.

Ganduje while speaking said, “There is another case of one Zuwaira Gambo, 12 years old, who was also murdered.”

The Governor while speaking confirmed that the perpetrator has been arrested by security agents.

He added, “The case is going hand in hand with that of Hanifa. We are committed to seeing that justice is done.”
