President Buhari Makes Fresh Appointment

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday approved the appointment Engr. Aliyu Tukur Tahir as the new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) and Chief Electrical Inspector of the Federation.

Naija News reports that this was made known in a statement by the agency’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ama Umorem.

Umorem who stated that the appointment is for four years added that Tukur may be reappointed for another four years in line with public service rules.

Tahir, who was the General Manager Technical Standard and Inspectorate Services (TS&IS) in NEMSA, replaces the former Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer and Chief Electrical Inspector of the Federation, Engr. Peter O. Ewesor, whose second and final tenure expired on the 3rd of October 2021.

Tahir has 29 years of experience in the power sector. He joined the Federal Ministry of Power in 1993 and rose to the position of a Deputy Director Electrical Inspectorate Services Department from where he was transferred to NEMSA as the General Manger of TS/IS.

A Yobe- born graduate of Electrical Engineering from the Abubakar Tafawa Belewa University served as the secretary, presidential task force on power in 2011 while in service with the Ministry of Power.

He is a fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Power Engineers, a member if the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and registered member, council for the regulation of engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
