Ekiti PDP Primary Election: Army Moves Arrested Thugs To Ondo Barracks

The Nigerian Army has detained suspected political thugs at the 323 Artillery Brigade barracks in Akure, Ondo State.

Naija News earlier reported that the hoodlums were coming from Ibadan, the Oyo State capital to Ekiti, to disrupt the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, primary elections in the state.

The thugs were nabbed around 3 am on Wednesday along Ita Awure/Efon Junction in Ekiti by joint security forces consisting of soldiers and policemen.

Items recovered from the suspects included guns, machetes, charms and many other harmful objects.

Though their sponsor is yet to be confirmed, it was learned that the hoodlums are suspected members of the Oyo state Park Management System (PMS).

Speaking with reporters, the spokesman of the brigade, Captain Akin Omojokun, said the suspects were moved to the barracksĀ for further investigation.

He added that the thugs will be later handed over to the police for prosecution.
