Four Arrested Over Assault Of Lady Who Criticised Borno Lawmaker

The Borno State Police Command has arrested four persons in connection with a physical assault on a lady, Fadila Abdulrahman, in a viral video.

Naija News earlier reported that the lady was on Sunday evening reportedly ‘brutalized’ by suspected hoodlums over a ‘scathing’ Facebook post she made about a lawmaker representing Jere Federal Constituency in Borno State.

This came after the victim expressed displeasure with the leadership of Hon. Ahmad Satomi Grema.

The thugs, armed with clubs, sticks, and other lethal weapons, also vandalized her business shop.

In a recorded video of the attack, the leader of the thugs was heard saying he was ready to sacrifice his life should anyone verbally attack his ‘political master’.

He threatened to kill her if she ever criticized the lawmaker publicly again.

Reacting to the assault, the Borno State Police Commissioner, Abdu Umar, said the culprits were responsible for the attack on the lady, adding that two other suspects are still at large.

While parading the culprits before journalists on Monday, Umar named the suspects to include Mala Mohammed, Bello Musa, Nasir Abubakar and Ali Dungus Shettima

The police chief said the culprits were apprehended after Governor Babagana Zulum ordered the arrest of the culprits.

He said: “The hoodlums, supporters of Ahmed Satomi a member representing Jere federal constituency alleged that they were engaged by one Suleiman and Manu Nakande.

“The victim Fadila was attacked and subsequently, her restaurant was destroyed and her mobile set, value yet unknown were carted away, the purpose being that she circulated in social media an image and text undermining the integrity of their master, the member representing Jere as alleged.

“Borno is gaining peace and we will not allow miscreants to infringe on the fundamental human rights of the people and we will prosecute those involved.”
