Former Super Eagles player, Julius Aghahowa has shared his thoughts on the elimination of Nigeria from the AFCON 2021 tournament.

Recall that the team had lost its match against Tunisa with a winning goal from Youssef Msakni in the 47th minute.

Prior to the loss Nigeria had won all nine points in the group stage of the competition after defeating Egypt, Sudan, and Guinea Bissau.

The winning shot which was fired 25yards, bounced and caught Okoye off guard. The goal keeper was unable to prevent the ball from nesting in the corner of the net because of his weak parry.

Aghahowa, who was a guest analyst on AIT AFCON coverage said he was disappointed at Okoye’s poor judgement.

He said: “Okoye should have saved that ball because he saw the ball coming towards his direction,”

“I am really disappointed and feel he should have done better. This was a game we didn’t deserve to lose at all. But it has happened and we have to accept our fate.”
