5G: American Companies Are Concerned About The Risk Of Interference At Airports

In the United States, airlines are concerned about the deployment of 5G near airports.
They warn against the risks of interference which could paralyze the activity.

In the United States, the bosses of the main airlines are worried about the deployment of 5G near airports.

This risks creating real “chaos“, they say in a letter sent to the US government, the aviation safety agency and the telecom regulator.

According to them, the new mobile internet could in particular disrupt the operation of onboard instruments in aircraft.

Immediate action is needed, they write, to prevent significant disruption to passengers, carriers, supply chains and the delivery of essential medical supplies. The risk is seeing the vast majority of travellers and grounded cargo. On a day like a Sunday, that would mean over 1,100 flights and 100,000 passengers subject to cancellations, diversions or delays.

The American telecom giants obtained frequency bands for 5G last year. The deployment of this technology has already been postponed twice.
