Nigerians React As Obasanjo Decorates Son With New Rank

Reactions have trailed the decoration of Adeboye Obasanjo with the new rank of Brigadier-General by his father, former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Naija News reports that Obasanjo had on Wednesday decorated his son with the new rank following his recent promotion from Colonel to Brigadier-General in the Nigerian Army.

The former president decorated his son at an event held at the Nigerian Army Engineers (NAE) Headquarters in Bonny Camp, Victoria Island, Lagos State.

Although the decoration is usually done by the spouse and a superior officer, Obasanjo was accorded the honour of being a former Head of State and ex-president.

Recall that Adeboye was shot in the leg by Boko Haram in Baza in Adamawa State on September 8, 2014, and was treated for some months before recovering.

Some soldiers under the platoon he commanded died in the attack. Adeboye had been deployed to the battlefield from 3 Division in Jos, Plateau State.

Nigerians have taken to social media to congratulate the former president’s son on his new rank and wish him well in his endeavours, while others knocked the former President over his son’s achievement.
