Pictures of Governors Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State and Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State with Musa Kamarawa, a confessed associate of the notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, has surfaced online.

Naija News reports that the picture of Kamarawa with the Deputy Governor of Sokoto, Mannir Dan Iyya, has also generated a lot of controversies on social media.

According to Premium Times, Kamarawa is a relative of the former governor of the state, Attahiru Bafarawa and a close confidant of Turji, one of the bandit leaders responsible for the killing of over 100 travellers in Sokoto state.

Recall that Kamarawa was arrested in Abuja in September 2021 while on his way to deliver a consignment of Indian hemp to Turji and his men.

According to Daily Nigerian, Kamarawa in a viral video of his questioning by the police confessed to being an associate of Turji and has been friends with the bandit leader for a long time.

It was learned that Kamarawa was among those first contacted by Matawalle after he was declared governor in 2019, to facilitate a peace accord with bandits.

A source at the Zamfara Government House said Kamarawa was referred to the governor when the peace accord was being initiated but Turji rejected the offer.

Also, a letter circulating on social media shows that Kamarawa has been reportedly appointed as Special Assistant to governor Matawalle.

The platform added that Kamarawa helped secure the release of Turji’s father from security agents in July when the banditry kingpin abducted 50 residents in retaliation for his father’s arrest by the police.

Days later, Kamarawa took Turji’s father to the riverside and the captives were released to him.
