A Corp member, Jonathan Ogbe has fled after allegedly defiling a 12-yeer-old in Asamabiri community of Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa state.

The accused reportedly lured the pupil to his house and repeatedly carried out his malicious act on her, Daily Post reports.

The incident occurred on September 2021 after which Ogbe with NYSC call up number, NYSC/ABU/2020/113131, fled and refused to pick up his discharge letter.

The Civil Society Group, Gender-based advocacy groups and indigenes of the community have accused the gender unit of the Bayelsa Police Command of delaying the arrest and prosecution of the suspect.

However, the National Youth Service through a statement released by its spokesman, Mathew Ngobuab has refuted the claims of delay and has revealed that the suspect is no where to be found.

He said: “The accused has abandoned service and all his numbers and that of his next of kin are not reachable. He has not even picked up his discharge certificate for service.”
