Nollywood actor, Deyemi Okanlawon has reacted after a former presidential aide, Reno Omokri berated the choice of the federal government to choose foreign expertise over local.

This is coming after Super Eagles qualified for the knockout stages by defeating Guinea-Bissau in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Reacting to the impressive win, the controversial preacher via the micro blogging platform, Twitter noted that the local coach, Augustine Eguavoen is doing what  former foreign coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr could not do.

He added that sometimes what one might be looking for outside can be found within.

Reno Omokri commended the Super Eagles interim coach for doing a stellar Job.

“What a foreign coach could not do, a local coach is doing. Sometimes, what you are looking for outside is actually in your pocket. Augustine Eguavoen is doing a stellar job. The boys are doing us proud and the super in Super Eagles is not hype. It is reality.” he wrote.

Replying to the statement, Deyemi asked Reno Omokri to replace the word ‘local’ with ‘homegrown’, stressing that the author should know that as a Nigerian the word local causes devaluation and is an insult.

He wrote; “Dear, Renoomokri, Kindly replace local with homegrown/home-based.. you’re Nigerian enough to known local to us is an insult and causes devaluing.”
