Breaking: Supreme Court Fixes Date For Final Judgement In FG's Case Against Nnamdi Kanu

An Igbo group, Nzuko Umunna, has reiterated its call for a political solution to be deployed in addressing the case of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

The Think Tank, in a statement on Monday signed by its Secretary, Ngozi Odumuko, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to release the detained IPOB leader and consider suggested ways in resolving Kanu’s matter.

It stated the national debate on the Biafra agitator’s case and the security situation in the South East indicate that Nigerians want Kanu released, adding that the release of the IPOB leader will lead to lasting peace in the South East and in the country in general.

The group added that the President should also consider the appeal made by various groups in the South East such as the South-East Governors, South-East lawmakers, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and some Igbo leaders.

It urged the Federal Government to dialogue with the IPOB leader and all other agitators in the country like Sunday Igboho and save the country from undue distractions.

Buhari’s government has put Kanu in detention since his re-arrest in Kenya, many years after asylum abroad.

Kanu is expected to appear in court tomorrow, Tuesday, where his lawyers would make further arguments for his bail.
