Why I Didn't Attend Atiku’s Book Launch - Anyaoku

President Muhammadu Buhari has appreciated the former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, for his contribution to the country and the international community.

Buhari made this assertion in a statement issued on Monday by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, to mark the 89th birthday of the elder statesman on January 18, 2022.

The Nigerian leader stated that Anyaoku’s contributions to the country during his time at the Commonwealth will continue to stand out and be remembered for a long time.

He prayed that God should continue to grant the renowned international diplomat, who started as a Foreign Service Officer, long life and prosperity to celebrate more years.

Buhari said Anyaoku had continually followed and projected the wellbeing of his country by working very hard to build his local community and staying vocal in counselling leaders on way forward.

The President also extolled his foresight, courage and diligence in pursuing his vision for a more just and peaceful world.

Meanwhile, the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr Akinwumi Adesina, has been urged to declare his presidential ambition and succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

This was disclosed in a statement released by a group of women activists named Women for Secured Nation and issued by its spokesperson, Judith Onyekwere, on Sunday in Benin.

According to the group, the former Minister of Agriculture has the competence, charisma and capacity to be the next President and turn the fortunes of the country around.

The group said the county needs Adesina who is a technocrat with proven integrity, adding that his experience and track record of achievements makes him the best candidate for the position.
