A Nigerian family has fulfilled their father, Baba Aji Mamman’s dying wish of returning N11m of unearned salaries to the government.

According to an advertorial published by the family, the deceased was employed as a staff of the Rural Electrification Board in Damaturu, Yobe state but could only make it to work two to three times a week as against the five times working days because of his health and age.

He eventually passed away on March 28th, 2020 but before his death, he asked his family members to calculate the number of days in a week he could not fulfil his duties and return the money to the state government.

When this was done, the money accrued over time came to a total of N11m which was paid to the Yobe State Government.

“Late Alhaji Baba-Aji Mamman died on March 28, 2020. May his soul rest in peace, amin,” the publication reads.

“As a staff of the board, because of age, health and other constraints, he sometimes came to the office twice or three times as against the slated five times.

“Late Baba-Aji Mamman ordered a refund of assumed unearned salaries up to eleven years to the tune of N11,000,000 (eleven million naira) back to state government account.

“The family has raised the amount and paid as instructed to Access Bank account, Yobe State Government IGR account, 0765651829.

“May Allah Almighty give you all the hearts to forgive and pray for his eternal rest in Aljannafirdaus Insha Allah.

“Thank you for the cooperation accorded him while he served and may almighty Allah forgive our shortcomings and grant us Aljanna Aamin,” a statement from the family reads.
