Gospel Singer Receives Award From Prince William

A British-Nigerian gospel singer, Muyiwa Olarewaju has received an award from the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William.

The 52-year-old singer was presented the Officer of the Order of the British Empire medal on January 12 at an investiture ceremony in Windsor Castle.

He was given the award in honor of his contribution to the music industry.

The singer took to his Instagram page to post pictures of the ceremony.

He wrote: “For Services to music. Thank you to everyone that has relentlessly invested in this ‘young man’. You made it possible. A lecturer of mine told me no one is paying attention to you doing gospel music. Years later, here we are.”

Olarewaju is a gospel singer and songwriter who combines traditional gospel music with soul, R&B, and pop. He is also a presenter, performer, and broadcaster. His songs include Alleluia Eh, Here and real, God of miracles, Heya ye, Only you be God, Only you be God and so much more.

He was the first international act to perform in BET for the annual Celebration of Gospel show.
