Local Govt Chairman Slumps, Dies About Three Months After Resuming Office

The death has been confirmed of the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Council in Nasarawa State Hon Emmanuel Leweh.

Naija News reports Leweh was sworn into office in October 2021 for a three-year tenure.

However, information gathered by our correspondent said he slumped in office on Monday 10th January shortly after a meeting with some senior staff of the local government area.

The local government boss didn’t die immediately and was subsequently moved to a private hospital in Abuja where he eventually died while receiving treatment.

Before he passed away, the Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, and his Deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, visited Leweh at the hospital in Abuja

Confirming the passing away of the local government boss, the member representing Akwanga south in the State House of Assembly, Samuel Tsebe who is the younger brother to the late chairman, said his elder brother died after a brief illness.

He said: ” I lost my elder brother (Hon Emmanuel Joseph Leweh, Executive Chairman of Akwanga LGA) to the cold hand of Death this evening after a brief illness.”

In other news, a bottle water seller who warmed the heart of many after he was captured on camera handing money to prison inmates on transit has revealed he did it out of pity.

Naija News reports that an Instagram user named Ojo Emmanuel, captured the moment a water seller gave over 70 percent of his money to the prison inmates who were being transported in a Nigerian Correctional Service bus along Ajah area of Lagos state.

The act of kindness drew a lot of attention from many social media users who applauded the gesture.

Speaking with newsmen, the young man claimed that, unlike the prisoners, he enjoys freedom, which was his primary motivation for giving to them.

He also noted that he gave them the money out of pity despite being poor.
