'He Was A Prolific Politician - Atiku Mourns Alao-Akala

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed sadness over the death of the late former Oyo State Governor, Christopher Alao-Akala.

Naija News reports that the chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) died in the early hours of Wednesday at the age of 71.

In a press release by his media office on Wednesday, Atiku said the death of the former governor came as a ‘rude shock.’

The former vice president described Alao-Akala as a prolific politician whose records of achievement as governor remained enviable.

Atiku condoled with the people and government of Oyo state for the loss of a notable leader, urging his family and associates of the late Alao-Akala to take solace in the good legacies that he left behind.

The Waziri of Adamawa prayed that God accepts the soul of the late former governor and grant him eternal rest.

Meanwhile, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti has reportedly met with the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the 2023 Presidential election.

Fayemi, who is the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) also discussed the forthcoming APC governorship primary in Ekiti State with the former Lagos State governor.

This is coming a few days after Tinubu had declared his intention to pursue his ‘life-long ambition’ of becoming President.

He had told State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday that nothing ‘stops a kingmaker from becoming king’, adding that he is still consulting widely with stakeholders.

Top sources have now revealed to The PUNCH that Fayemi, on Wednesday, had discussions with Tinubu over the latter’s Presidential ambition and the need to ensure that the South-West gets the APC Presidential ticket.
