Woman Dragged To Court For ‘Duping’ New Man Of ₦10m And Escaping To Marry Her Old Lover

A woman has been arraigned in court after she was accused of defrauding her soon-to-be groom to the tune of ₦10m.

The woman identified as Fatima Sanusi who already has two children from her previous relationship appeared before a Chief Magistrates Court sitting in Barnawa, Kaduna State.

It was gathered by Naija News that 10 days to her expected wedding to Umar Oruma who is her new lover, she disappeared and was later discovered to have returned to her former lover who is also the father of her two children.

It is understood that she and Oruma started going out in July 2020 and the man proposed to her in January 2021 which she accepted.

She however backed out 10 days to their wedding, prompting the groom-to-be to file a complaint against her.

In his complaint against her, the man claimed to have spent ₦6.7million on taking care of her, her children, and family members since the day she agreed to marry him while an additional ₦3.2million has also been expended on their wedding preparations.

The application for issuance of criminal summons as reported by Daily Trust reads: “The complainant and the defendant started dating in July, 2020 and after a long courtship, the complainant proposed to the defendant in January, 2021 which the defendant accepted.

“Based on the defendant’s acceptance to marry the complainant, the defendant started collecting money from the complainant with the belief that all her responsibilities and that of her children and parents are to be catered by the complainant.

“From the day you promised to marry the complaint, he has expended ₦6.7million on you which you are aware of and he has expended nothing less than ₦3.2million in preparation for the wedding.”

The presiding judge thereafter granted her bail to the tune of ₦500,00 with two sureties in like sum.

One of the sureties, the court held must be a relation of the defendant working with a relevant organization and the other a neighbour.
