Family Releases Statement, Reveal How Juju Legend, Dayo Kujore Died

The family of the late Nigerian singer, Dayo Kujore has released an official statement on the death of the legendary musician.

The family in a statement on Tuesday, confirmed that Kujore died on Monday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.

According to the statement, the singer passed away at the age of 69 after a brief illness.

“The family of Wonder Adedayo Kujore, the Soko Music exponent, wishes to inform the general public officially of his death.

“Dayo Kujore, died yesterday morning at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja after a brief illness.
He was 69 years old. Survived with children and many grandchildren.

“The body has been deposited at a morgue while the burial arrangements will be announced later by the family,” the statement signed by the children reads.

It will be recalled that his daughter, Ayinke Kujore had first announced the passing away of her dad on Monday as reported by Naija News.

Born on the 4th of April, 1962 in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Kujore became prominent in the music industry for creating a new tune from the Juju genre called Soko music.

Kujore started his music career by playing the guitar at 10 and went on to release albums like Elevation, Wisdom, Joy, Easy Life, and the popular Soko Xtra.

He once performed with the lies of Chief Composer Jossy Olu Oguntade, MD Jaiyesinmi, and Prince Adekunle, before he formed his own band.
