Former vice president Atiku Abubakar has condemned the murder of over 200 persons during attacks by terrorists in Zamfara State.

Naija News previously reported that the victims were killed in bandits’ attack on five villages in the North West state with many houses also set ablaze.

The villages attacked by the terrorists include Kurfa Danya, Kurfa Magaji Rafin Gero, Tungar Isa, and Barayar Zaki in Bukkuyum and Anka Local Government Areas of the state.

Reacting to the killings, Atiku asked the Muhammadu Buhari-led government to smoke out all the bandits and terrorists inflicting pain on the citizens.

In a statement on Sunday, the former vice president advised the military to step up its operation in the North-West zone to curb further killings and destructions.

Atiku said it was heartbreaking to have dozens of innocent citizens killed in just one day, saying that the tragic incident is a traumatic experience to imagine.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, however, sympathised with the families of the deceased, the affected communities and the state government over the killings.

He said: “I expect that security is ramped up to stem this waste of precious human lives.

“When I expressed my deepest condolences to the people and government of Zamfara State on the 6th of January over the senseless killing of innocent citizens in Bukkuyum and Anka Local Government Areas of the state, little did I know that the tragedy that befell the people was far worse than envisaged.

“Even as I sympathise with people in the affected families and the affected communities, yet again, as they bury their dead, I expect that security be ramped up to stem this waste of precious human lives.”
