Military Kills Top Boko Haram Commander Abou Hurairah, Others

The top hierarchy of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) has appointed new commanders to oversee its operations in some locations in Nigeria.

Naija News understands this development comes after heavy military bombardments from the Nigerian Military using the recently acquired Super Tucano fighter jets resulted in the killing of some leaders of the terrorist group.

The airstrikes were said to have targeted the terrorists’ locations in Marte and Abadam in Borno State as well as other locations in the Lake Chad axis.

It is further understood that the meeting to reshuffle and appoint new commanders was held at the instance of the ISWAP Leader, Sani Shuwaram.

The meeting had in attendance members of the Shura Council and terrorist commanders from the Marte axis, including Garal, Kayowa, Tumbum Murhu, Kurnawa, Chikun Gudu, Tumbumma, Kwalaram, Kirta, Wulgo and Jubularam among other insurgent camps.

According to PR Nigeria, some of the newly appointed commanders are Abubakar Dan-Buduma to oversee Bakkassi Buningil and Doron Buhari; Muhammed Ba’ana for Kirta; Mohamet Aliamir for Kwalaram; Bakura Gana for Jubularam; Malam Musa for Jubularam; and Mohamadu Mustapha for Marte.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, has stated that the security challenges rocking Nigeria will soon be a thing of the past.

Naija News reports that the CDS stated this on Sunday while speaking during a church service to mark this years’ Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

While admitting that Insecurity is still a challenge, Irabor claimed that the present level is better than what was obtained in the past.

According to him, the security threats facing the country would soon become history.
