DSS Invites Bishop Kukah For Questioning

The Department of State Service (DSS) has reportedly invited Bishop Hassan Mathew Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto State for questioning.

According top top sources familiar with the invitation, the cleric was invited to the DSS headquarters for questioning.

Kukah had yet to honour the invitation as of Saturday afternoon, Peoples Gazzette reports.

It was gathered that Kukah’s invitation is linked to recent comments about President Muhammadu Buhari and his handling of bandits.

2023: Spokesperson Opens Up On Jonathan’s Presidential Ambition, Defection To APC

The spokesperson to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Ikechukwu Eze has debunked rumours that his principal is putting structures in place to contest the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.

He also ruled out the possibility of Jonathan defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in order to emerge as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.

The media aide went further to explain that the recent meetings between his boss and President Muhammadu Buhari have no political implication linked with the 2023 presidency or a planned defection to the APC.

2023: Yahaya Bello Will Defeat Atiku – Fani-Kayode

A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has expressed optimism that the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello will defeat former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

According to Fani-Kayode, Bello would make an excellent president because he would appeal to youths in the country.

Fani-Kayode stated this while speaking with Channels Television on Friday.

The former minister when asked if Bello could defeat the ex-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, said, “Why not? He will defeat his hands down.(sic)”

Nnamdi Kanu: Despite Buhari’s Statement We Are Still Seeking Political Solution – Ekweremadu

Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has said moves are still on to secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Ekweremadu stated that he doesn’t think President Muhammadu Buhari ruled out a political solution to Kanu’s case.

Recall that some Igbo leaders had in November last year met with Buhari to seek Kanu’s release amidst call for a political solution.

The president had during the meeting told the delegation that the request for an unconditional release of the IPOB leader was too heavy as it runs contrary to the doctrine of separation of powers between the Executive and Judiciary, however adding that he would consider it.

Okorocha Names Uzodinma’s ‘Killer Squad’, Accuses Imo Gov Of Knowing Gulak’s Assassins

Senator Rochas Okorocha (APC-Imo West) has accused Governor Hope Uzodinma of knowing those behind the assassination of former presidential aide, Ahmed Gulak.

Speaking to newsmen at his Owerri residence, the lawmaker alleged that the Imo governor has a killer squad known as Hopism Strike Force (HSF).

Okorocha, a former Imo governor, stated that the strike-force which comprises of operatives of the military, police, DSS and Ebubeagu are responsible for the insecurity crisis rocking the Southeast state.

PDP Gives Fresh Update, Denies Zoning 2023 Presidential Ticket

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described reports that it had already zoned its 2023 presidential ticket to a particular region as misleading.

The party in a statement on Saturday made available to Naija News said the individuals making declarations about the zoning of the PDP presidential ticket are not speaking on behalf of the party.

The PDP statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba urged members of the party and the general public to disregard the trending report that it had zoned its presidential ticket.

Lagos To Shut Down Schools That Failed To Resume On January 4th

The Lagos State Government on Saturday vowed to shut down schools that failed to comply with the stipulated academic calendar in the state.

Naija News reports that this was made known by the Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Abiola Seriki-Ayeni.

The Lagos government vowed to take disciplinary actions against such schools as compilation of the names of schools that failed to obey the directive of the state’s Ministry of Education that private and public schools should resume on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, is ongoing.

I Won’t Bury My Son, Even If Takes 30 Years – Sylvester Oromoni’s Father

Sylvester Oromoni, father of the late Sylvester Oromoni jnr has stated that he would not be burying his son till he gets justice.

Recall that the Lagos State Government had absolved the five students, Staff and Dowen college of having a hand in the death of the 12- year-old.

The decision had led to Nigerians claiming that the autopsy report provided by LASUTH which maintained that Sylvester had acute bacterial pneumonia due to sepsis was doctored.

Speaking to the Punch on Friday, January 7, Mr Oromoni said that he would not be putting his son to rest even if it takes 30 years to get justice.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has reportedly zoned it’s 2023 presidential slot to the North.

A former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, stated this in a statement on Friday (yesterday), Naija News understands.

According to the party chieftain, the decision was in line with the party’s agreement to allow any candidate contest the 2023 election.

Dr. Babangida Aliyu who spoke while paying host to the Atiku Support Organisation in Minna, Niger State capital yesterday, said he is confident of the success of the group.

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Zamfara State, Dr Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has lamented the spate of killings by terrorist groups in the Northern part of the country, especially in Zamfara State.

Recounting a series of attacks by bandit terrorists and other dreaded groups in Zamfara recently, Shinkafi appealed to the Federal Government to deploy fighter jets and additional military personnel to the state to effectively fight terrorism in the axis.
