Prof Taibat Danmole, first daughter of Oba Oladunni Oyewumi died on January 8 at the age of 71. She was said to have been ill for some time.

Oba Oyewumi died on December 12 at the age of 95,  Naija News learned that Prof Taibat Danmole, the late monarch’s first daughter, died on January 8 at the age of 71.

According to palace sources, Danmole had been ill for some time before she died on Saturday, 28 days after her monarch father joined his ancestors.

Danmole, who was born on March 19, 1951, was to be buried Sunday afternoon in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.

The deceased, who was described as an education professor, was married to another university don, Prof. Hakeem Danmole, who serves as Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin.

From 1997 to 1998, she served as the Commissioner for Education in Oyo State. In 2011, she served as a member of the Visitation Panel to The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

She also worked for the National Teacher Institute as a resource person, coordinator, and independent assessor.

According to reports, the late Danmole was a lecturer at the University of Ilorin before transferring to the Lagos State University, where she retired.

She was said to have relocated to Ilorin and started lecturing at Al-Hikmah University alongside her husband before she breathed her last on Saturday 28 days after her monarch father died.
