Obasanjo Visits Olubadan’s Widow In Ibadan

Former  Olusegun Obasanjo has commiserated with Rasheedat Adetunji, widow of the late Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji.

Naija News reports that the first-class traditional ruler died on Sunday at the University College Hospital (UCH) after five years on the throne.

The former president arrived at the late Olubadan’s Popoyemoja palace around 7:10 am and was received by the widow of the late monarch and Gbonka Balogun of Ibadan, Chief Nureni Akanbi.

Obasanjo who was accompanied on the condolence visit by the former Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Olayiwola Olakojo, departed the palace 30 minutes later.

The former president prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed monarch and promised his readiness to assist the family whenever the need arises.

Obasanjo also paid a tribute to the late monarch in a condolence register opened at the palace.

He wrote: “Kabiesi, sun re. You lived for the service of family, community, state and the nation. You served committedly and God granted you longevity. We pray that your soul will be with your creator and the family and community will continue to thrive.”

Meanwhile, no fewer than fifteen persons have been reportedly arrested over the killing of an Inspector of the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State.

It was learned that the deceased, Adebayo Adele was murdered on September 20, 2021, at the Imeko-Afon area of Ogun.

Giving an update on the arrest of the men suspected to be connected to the killing of the officer, the Field Commander of Amotekun in Ogun, David Akinremi, said one Aminu Azeez and 14 others have been apprehended within the metropolis.

He told newsmen that the suspects were arrested on January 2, 2022, adding that they had been transferred to the IRT team, Ibadan, for further investigation, as the search for other suspects continues.

The late officer was said to belong to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Intelligence Response Squad (IRT), Annex Ibadan, Oyo State.
