The President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday restated his opposition to state police, saying it was not an option for addressing insecurity in the country. The PUNCH reports that Buhari also insisted that the establishment of grazing routes would solve the problem of farmers, herders’ clashes in the country.


President Muhammadu Buhari has restated his opposition to state governments having their own police. The President made this known in an interview with Channels Television aired last night. “State police is not an option,” he said in response to the question on the topic, The Guardian reports.

The gazette titled, “Terrorism (prevention) proscription order notice 2921 dated November 25, 2921made available to newsmen yesterday, says, ” Orders declaring the activities of the “Yan Bindiga Group” and the “Yan Ta’adda Group” and other similar groups in any part of Nigeria as terrorism and illegal, proscribing their existence and restraining any person or group of persons from participating in any manner whatsoever in any form in the activities of any of the group.
