Laboratory Scientist Dies Of Gas Explosion In Delta

A laboratory scientist, Mrs. Ame Onyelo who works at government hospital Abraka in Ethiope East Local Council of Delta State has died due to wounds sustained from a gas explosion.

According to LIB the deceased was cooking in her home on new year day when the gas exploded.

The explosion left her with 90 percent-degree burns. Onyelo, who had a 50 percent survival rate was rushed to the Government Hospital, Abraka and then the Central Hospital, Warri and thereafter to UBTH. She died on Tuesday at about 1:30pm.

The Medical Director (MD) of the government hospital, Dr. Donald Anyoru, confirmed her death.

He said: “The management visited the family of the deceased in Abraka today. She was a nice woman, very cooperative and a peacemaker. I have been here for about a year now and I can say that she is one of the few people, who you can discuss issues with. We are sad”

In other news, a school teacher, Zubairu Musa has been arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping and defiling his student.

The 38-year-old who is reportedly a staff at Government Day Senior Secondary School, Wurno, committed the crime on January 1.

The spokesperson for the Jigawa State Police ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam said the suspect confessed to committing the crime. Read more
