The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Gombe State has suspended a former member of the House of Representatives, Umar Barambu.

Stating its reason for suspending the former lawmaker, the executive committee of the party in Lembi ward, in the Akko Local Government Area of the state, alleged the politician had shown traces of anti-party activities.

The Chairman of the party in the ward, Gwani Audu who spoke at the APC secretariat in the state said Barambu violated the party’s rules and hence the decision to suspend him as his actions could not be tolerated by the party leadership.

He insists that the party executive committee would not fold its hands to watch anyone negatively affect the party, especially as the 2023 general election draw closer.

He stressed that Barambu’s suspension is with immediate force, adding that the ward reserves unflinching support for the state Governor Muhammadu Yahaya.

Audu urged all members of the party from all wards to maintain their loyalty to the state governor in order not to give the opposition opportunity to infiltrate the party.

He said, “We don’t want anti-party activities because we pledge unalloyed loyalty to the party. We also don’t like anything that will break the party. That is why we have suspended him until when he reaches out to us and makes amends.

“APC is strong in Lembi ward. We don’t want division in the party. Therefore, we will not condone all these anti-party activities. We are totally in support of the governor.”
