A three-storey building in Lagos State was reportedly gutted by fire on new year day.

Reports reaching Naija News at this time confirmed that the affected structure is located on Onadeko Street, off Anjorin Street, Lawanson, Surulere, Lagos.

No casualty has been reported as of when the report was given and the cause of the fire incident is yet unknown.

However, there were suspicions that the fire might have been caused by faulty electrical appliances, which exploded shortly after the power supply was restored to the building.

Naija News understands that valuable properties were lost to the fire outbreak and efforts is ongoing to quench the inferno.

In another news earlier, some hoodlums reportedly disrupted the 21st-anniversary event in honour of the late leader and crusader of the Sayawa people of Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro local government areas of Bauchi State, Peter Gonto.

Naija News gathered that the event ended abruptly on Friday as the hoodlums invaded the venue, stirred chaos and thereafter set several houses and the centre ablaze.

The two-day event organised in honour of Gonto, the first Christian convert in Sayawa land who later became an evangelist, caused sharp division among the Sayawa people in the two LGAs.

Before the incident, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, who is in his fourth term representing Dass/Tafawa Balewa/Bogoro Constituency, had written a letter to the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, alarming the police boss over security threats in the area, should the memorial be allowed to hold.
