BREAKING: All Boko Haram Suspects In Kuje Prison Have Escaped - Defence Minister Confirms

The Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi, has called on troops of the Nigerian Army to ensure that insecurity is curbed at all costs.

In a statement issued on Thursday, army spokesman, Onyema Nwachukwu, said Magashi made the submission during the decoration of senior military officers at the army headquarters on Thursday in Abuja.

The minister also asked the soldiers not to relent on their oars and win the fight against banditry and insurgency in the North.

He described the promotion of the senior officers “as a recognition for their diligence and selfless sacrifices”, urging the officers to remain loyal to the constitution and “discharge their duties professionally”.

Magashi added that the country relies “on their wealth of knowledge, character and professionalism to develop an enduring panacea that will completely defeat insurgency, banditry and other forms of criminality in the country”.

The minister also assured the army of the continuous support of the federal government “especially in the acquisition of military hardware to facilitate the conduct of its operations across the country”.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has listed the biggest challenge faced by the Muhammadu Buhari government in 2021.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday in Lagos State, Mohammed stated that insecurity remains the biggest problem faced by the Buhari administration.

In his submission, the minister said that the security challenge in the country is being addressed despite the long list of achievements by the Buhari government.

Mohammed stressed that the military has continued to perform very well, saying that Nigerians owe them a debt of gratitude for their patriotism and sacrifice.
