Woman And Two Daughters Die in Car Crash On Boxing Day

A woman and her two daughter have died in a car accident at Itako, Ijebu Ife, Ogun.

The tragic incident occurred on Sunday, 26th of December along the Sagamu-Benin expressway at old MRS filling station.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson of the Ogun State’s Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) informed newsmen in Abeokuta that the accident which occurred around 12:30pm was between a Howo truck and a Ford jeep.

He stated that the accident was caused by excessive speed on the part of Ford SUV driver who ran into the truck.

He also revealed that four people were involved in the crash and three did not survive.

The Ford jeep was on its way from Lagos to the Eastern part on vacation when it rammed into a stationary Dangote truck from behind due to excessive speed and loss of control. The husband of the woman stays overseas and the driver was employed as the family driver. The driver is at the police station.”

Akinbiyi stated that the bodies of the deceased has been deposited in the morgue of Gosheng Hospital, Ijebu Ife while the vehicles involved in the crash were taken to Ijebu Ife divisional police station.
