Imo: I Have Forgiven My Abductors - Uche Nwosu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has justified the arrest of a former governorship candidate in the state, Uche Nwosu.

The party in a statement on Monday in Owerri, the state capital through its publicity secretary, Mr Cajetan Duke said due process was followed in the arrest.

Naija News recalls Nwosu, the son-in-law to former Governor Rochas Okorocha was arrested on Sunday in a church service at St Peter’s Anglican Church Umunwokwe Village Eziama-Obaire Nkwerre LGA of Imo State.

Though he has since regained his freedom as confirmed on Monday, the manner of his arrest by security operatives has caused different reactions.

On Monday, the Imo APC told newsmen that the former governorship candidate was lawfully arrested by the police after resisting invitations, adding that rumours on his abduction were false and misleading.

The statement also rejected claims that the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has been unable to manage the security situation in the state.

“The APC staunchly supports the governor and government of Imo in their effort to restore sanity, peace, order and sustainable economic development in the state.

“As a party, we advise Nigerians to refrain from trite shenanigans and doomed efforts to link Gov. Uzodimma with self-imposed and merited predicament.

“We commend the governor for his equanimity, mature and honourable disposition in the face of rash provocations and rascality from persons intentionally working against the overall interest and wellbeing of Imo people,” Duke said.

Meanwhile, members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Monday protested against the continued detention of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Naija News reports that the proscribed group took to the street in Jerusalem to demand the unconditional release of their detained leader.

The IPOB members were seen walking peacefully towards the seat of power in Jerusalem with both the Biafran and Israeli flags.

In a viral video, the Biafran agitators were seen soliciting the support of the Israeli government in achieving the self-determination of the Eastern region.
