Nigerians React As Adamu Announces Lawan As APC Consensus Candidate

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, on Sunday, vowed that the National Assembly will continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari in his assignments and to keep his promises to Nigerians.

Lawan stated this in Gombe State while inaugurating the Empowerment Programme of the Senator representing Gombe North Senatorial District, Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali.

According to the Senate President, Buhari has shown examples of leadership for the country at large and the All Progressives Congress.

He further stated that President Buhari has taken steps to turn around the fortunes of the country and he has been persistent in achieving it.

Lawan, however, noted that Nigeria is not out of its challenges, but the president is doing well and he commends him for that.

This is coming at the time, the President refused to sign the electoral bill ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Naija News had earlier reported that a source in the president claimed that President Buhari is in a tight corner about signing the bill into law or rejecting the amended electoral act sent to him by the National Assembly.

According to the source, some strong people in government including state governors and lawmakers have been trying to prevail over the President not to sign the bill.

The source added that the President himself has nothing against signing the bill but is trying to consider the reservations and opinions of others on the matter.
