A group of Northern Youths on Friday expressed their grievances over the incessant killings in the region by bandit terrorists, kidnappers and Boko Haram fighters.

Naija News reports that the group under the aegis of the Coalition of Concerned Northern Nigerian Groups, protested in Abuja yesterday, saying they are tired of burying their people daily.

The group which also lamented the gruesome killing of over 40 bus passengers at Gidan Bawa village in Sokoto State, demanded an immediate end to the killings going on in the North.

One of the leaders of the group, Zainab Ahmed who spoke with journalists during the demonstration, said the northern part of Nigeria was bleeding owing to the incessant killings in the region.

“We are here to call on the Nigerian government that the North is bleeding and enough is enough. We are tired of burying our women, children, and men. Our crops are being razed by bandits,” Ahmed said.

She added: “We are here to tell the government to secure our lives. We bury hundreds of people on a daily basis yet there is no action, not even ‘sorry’ from our leaders. We are here because we are angry. Because we are children of Baba Buhari, we feel that he has neglected us.

“We called on our followers to vote for Buhari in 2019 for the next level and this next level is killing us. We are dying; this is not what we voted for.”

In the same development, a call has gone out from a section of Northern youths in the country for President Muhammadu Buhari to resign his position as the leader of the nation immediately.

The youths, under the aegis of the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) based their call on the challenges of insecurity ravaging the country which they say the President and his administration have been unable to fix.

They lamented that terrorists, bandits, insurgents, and other forms of criminals have taken over several parts of the country particularly the north, inflicting pain and hardship on the people and residents of Nigeria.

Naija News reports that the group in a statement on Friday issued by its President, Isah Abubakar said the north has become the epicentre of criminal activities and the government seems helpless in tackling the situation.

While urging Buhari to resign as the president of Nigeria, the youths urged the National Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against him if he refuses to resign humbly.
