The Senator representing Niger East in the National Assembly, Sani Musa, has declared interest in becoming the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
Musa believes he has the leadership ability to address issues currently confronting the ruling party.
Naija News reports that the lawmaker made public his intention at a media briefing in Abuja, on Friday.
Musa stressed that if given the opportunity, he will revive the party, bring together all warring factions and position the party to achieve the electoral and political outcomes.
The politician said he is confident that he is the best candidate to lead the party to achieve its desired objectives.
He said: “I am presenting myself as the candidate that can position our great party, the All Progressive Congress, to achieve the electoral and political outcomes necessary to ensure that we consolidate and accelerate our socio-economic transformation.”
The lawmaker added: “Leadership is an awesome and great responsibility that requires a high sense of innovation and vision as a mechanism to change our nation for more advancements.
“If reposed with the responsibility to lead the party, I will endeavour to justify every day and in every act the trust that will be placed in me.
“Bringing a new beginning to our party leadership will create a new voice and direction to APC and by extension create the best platform for an enduring leadership for our country for the good of all.
“My ambition is borne out of my desire to contribute positively to the nation’s growing democratic process by ensuring that we build strong political structures with the required capacity to address the challenges we face as a party and ultimately as a nation.”
Musa in his address, commended President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that the leader has done a great job of returning the nation back on track.
According to him, the party owes him and itself a duty to ensure that his legacies endure.
While commending the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/ Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee for the successes so far recorded in rebuilding the party, he said, “I will work hard to ensure that we build on that and ensure that APC becomes the political party of choice in every single ward in Nigeria.”
