Ex-Super Falcons’ Goalkeeper, Ayegba Turns Bus Driver In UK

Former Super Falcon goalkeeper, Rachael Aladi Ayegba has ventured into driving in the United Kingdom.

The 35-year-old according to reports has dumped football and now drive a bus between Lewisham and Victoria.

Naija News understands that the Nigerian-born participated in the 2007 Women’s World Cup, 2006 and 2008 African Women’s Championships and had an 11-year stint as a pro in Finland.

Ayegba also won the league title in 2013 with PK-35 Vantaa.

The Nigerian former player whose favourite player is Cristiano Ronaldo, told the Standard UK in an interview that she doesn’t play football anymore, though she has coaching licenses.

She said: “When you are trying to save the ball, you need safe hands. But there are ten others on your side.

“When you drive a bus, you are on your own.”

“I am old. You have to know when to stop,” she added.

“Mentally you have to be 100% ready, if you are a goalkeeper the defenders can help you. You can’t make any mistakes driving a bus.”

In another news, English former footballer player, Glen Johnson has warned Manchester United against signing Chelsea forward, Timo Werner.

The former Liverpool player believes Werner would not enjoy playing time with the Red Devils if he eventually agrees to term with the club.

Johnson insisted that Man United should forget about signing Werner, adding that his move to Old Trafford would be problematic for the player and the club itself.

Naija News understands that Man United have been linked with a shock move for Werner since Ralf Rangnick replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager about a week ago.

Werner is just picking up at Chelsea after enduring a turbulent spell following his move to the club from RB Leipzig in 2020.
