The management of Dowen College has commiserated with the family of a 12-year-old, Sylvester Oromoni, a student of theirs who died under controversial circumstances.

Naija News had earlier reported that Oromoni was allegedly beaten to a pulp by his fellow students in the school for refusing to join a cult.

Perrie, an uncle to the deceased in a post on his Twitter account disclosed that his cousin suffered severe injuries which led to his death.

He added that the late student was subjected to bullying, torture and harassment.

However, the school in its first press release denied allegations that the student was beaten for refusing to join a cult group, claiming that the deceased sustained injuries while playing football.

According to the school, Oromoni was given immediate medical attention by the school’s resident nurse, claims the family have denied.

This led to an outcry, as the cousin to the deceased released a video footage of Sylvester Oromoni writhing in severe pain before his sudden death.

In the new press release, the school expressed their sympathies to the family of the late 12 year-old, noting that he was a beacon of light for the school.

They also assured the public of assisting the authorities to get to the bottom of the sad incident.
