Gov. Wike Threatens To Sack Four First-Class Traditional Rulers In Rivers State (See List)

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed to deliver any of its electoral promises to the people of Nigeria since assuming power in 2015.

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike made the allegation on Friday during the presentation of the 2022 appropriation bill of the state to the Rivers House of Assembly.

He said the last time Nigeria experienced such terrible situations before what currently obtains under the APC government led by President Muhammadu Buhari was during the 1967 civil war.

Wike accused the APC of failing to fight insurgency, corruption or fix the economy which are electoral promises it made to the people of Nigeria.

The Rivers State Governor while acknowledging however that the global COVID-19 pandemic might have slowed things down, said it was not enough to justify the colossal failure of the APC government and the attendant problems it has plunged Nigeria into.

He expressed confidence that Nigerians will vote out the APC in the 2023 general elections.

In his words, “under their watch, we have witnessed two economic recessions in quick successions with devastating economic consequences on the states and living standards of the people especially ordinary Nigerians and the teeming unemployed population”.

Wike added that “our situation was made worse by the failure of the federal government to deal with security challenges that have now escalated multi-dimensionally to virtually all regions of the country “.

“They promised to tackle the insurgency, pervasive corruption and fix the economy, they have failed woefully in all three promises to the indignation of Nigerians”.

“I’m sure this mistake will not be repeated by Nigerians in 2023”.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi has described the reports about him making contacts with some people to return to the Peoples Democratic Party as fake.

The Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwaze stated this in a statement released on Friday.

According to Nwaze, the report that his principal plans to return to the PDP is a fabricated false report and should be disregarded.
