Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has commiserated with Muslim faithful in the state over the demise of the Deputy Chief Imam of Osogbo, Haroon Adediran.

Naija News understands that the clergyman died at the age of 87 On Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

Adediran is said to have died after battling an undisclosed illness for some time. He has since been buried in Osogbo in accordance with Islamic rites.

Reacting to the demise of the cleric in a statement signed by his press secretary, Ismail Omipidan, Oyetola expressed shock at the passage of the cleric, saying the late Adediran lived a pious and exemplary life that was devoted to the service of Allah and humanity.

“I am extremely shocked and sad to learn of the passing of our father and Deputy Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Haroon Adediran Samonigogo. His death is a huge personal loss because he was like a father to me,” the governor said.

Oyetola added: “Sheikh Haroon was a friend and supporter of our administration and always offered us wise counsel. He will be greatly missed. I pray Allah to forgive his shortcomings and admit him into Aljanah Firdaus.”

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has described the tragic boat accident in Bagwai Local Government area of Kano State as sad and painful.

Naija News reports that 29 passengers have been confirmed dead and seven others injured in the boat accident which occurred on Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Commissioner for Information in Kano, Muhammad Garba, said 14 passengers involved in the mishap are still missing, adding that rescue operation is ongoing.

Garba submitted that the boat capsized while carrying about 49 passengers from Badau village to Bagwai town for an Islamic celebration.

He, however, stated that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has ordered the setting up of a committee to investigate the incident and provide measures to prevent such accidents.
