NSCIA Commitee Chair, Sheikh Ibrahim Loses Eldest Son- Buhari Reacts

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the killing of two officers of the Nigerian Police in Anambra State as barbaric.

The Nigerian leader stated that the heinous crime shows that some Nigerians are completely overtaken by hatred, and reduced to the basest level imaginable.

Naija News had reported that gunmen executed a daring ambush attack on operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Anambra state.

The policemen who were travelling, ran into an ambush by the gunmen as confirmed in a statement on Sunday by the Anambra Command spokesperson, Ikenga Tochukwu.

He explained that the policemen fought back after running into the ambush but two of them lost their lives while one is still unaccounted for. Tochukwu revealed that the gunmen burnt the bodies of the slain officers.

In a statement on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, President Buhari accused the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, of being behind the killings.

Buhari also condemned the group for recording the killing of the policemen and proceeded to circulate the video on social media.

He stated that the slain officers were serving the country and providing security to those who ironically turned against them.

President Buhari commiserated with the bereaved families of the slain policemen and prayed for God’s comfort in their deep sorrow.

The statement reads: “Noting that the three abducted policemen, two of whom were later brutally executed, were serving the country, and providing security to those who ironically turned against them, President Buhari sends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, praying for God’s comfort in their deep sorrow.

“He equally sympathizes with all those who have lost loved ones in the different theatres of insecurity that had rocked the country, charging them to take solace in the inevitable victory of good over evil.

“As the areas where insecurity was once fiercest in the country experience some measures of calm now, President Buhari assures that the same would be replicated around the country, and the people would no longer mourn and sorrow from wanton loss of lives.”

Recall that the Federal Government had accused IPOB of executing two operatives of the Nigerian Police Force.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed in a statement released on Monday said the security outfit of IPOB, Eastern Security Network carried out the murder.

According to the Minister, those behind the “killings, who videotaped their heinous act and circulated such will be apprehended and brought to justice”.
