Officers of the Benue State Police have gunned down two suspected killers in Tse Nom in Ukum in Benue.

The men were alleged to be part of a group of gunmen who attacked mourners at Imande Abul village, killed four mourners, and injured five at the burial of one Mama Sule Achin Adingi.

DSP Catherine Anene, spokesperson of the state Command said that a team of police stormed the hideout of the suspects on November 28 at Tse Nom.

She said: “On sighting the police, the hoodlums engaged them (police) in an intense gun duel but were overpowered by the police,” she stated.

“Three suspects were arrested with gun injuries and were rushed to General Hospital Ugba for treatment. Two of the suspects have been confirmed dead by a doctor while one is responding positively to treatment. Corpses of the disease suspects have been deposited at the hospital morgue.”

The PPRO also stated that items such as AK-47 rifle with five rounds of live ammunition, motorcycle, knife, different sort of charms and a locally made G3- rifle was recovered from the suspect. Those who were injured during the shoot out in the burial are currently receiving treatment.
