Anxiety As Over 500 Federal Civil Service Directors Are Set To Lose Their Jobs

The Federal Government has directed all civil servants to resume work on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

The Head of Service (HoS), Folasade Yemi-Esan, who gave the directive in a circular issued on Friday, also asked the workers to present evidence of the COVID-19 test and vaccination upon resumption.

Recall that the HoS had instructed all federal workers on Grade level 12 and below to work from home as a measure to curb the outbreak of the COVID-19 in the country.

According to the circular, all civil servants who fail to get vaccinated will not be allowed entry into their offices and will be penalised for flouting the government’s directive.

It asked the workers to visit designated health facilities for vaccination before resumption in order to help fight the war against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The circular, therefore, advised the federal workers to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result done within 72 hours.

The document reads: “It will be recalled that as part of the measures to curtail the spread of COVID-19 Pandemic, Officers on GL 12 and below were directed to work from home. Following the advice of the PSC on COVID-19, this category of Officers are expected to resume duties on Wednesday, 1st December 2021.

“Furthermore, in line with the recommendation of the Committee on COVID-19, Mr. President has approved the vaccine mandate policy. All Federal Government employees would therefore be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result done within 72 hours.
