Suspected Robber Dressed Like Herdsman Arrested

A suspected armed robber disguising as a Fulani herdsman has been caught and arrested by the Ogun State police command.

According to reports, the suspect identified as Biodun Rasheed was on Wednesday, November 24 arrested along Ajebo road Abeokuta.

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed that the suspect and his gang known to be terrorizing the area were caught during operations.

He also said the patrol team mobilized by the DPO Kemta division, joined with the vigilante group of Nigeria moved to the scene apprehending some gang members while others got away.

Amongst the robbers apprehended is Biodun Rasheed who was dressed like a Fulani herdsman.

The spokesperson revealed that the suspect is currently helping the police in their efforts to apprehend the remaining members of the gang.

Meanwhile, the Akwa Ibom State High Court has sentenced two men to death by hanging after murdering their uncle over landed property.

The assailants identified as Joseph Etim and Christopher Macaulay were sentenced on Wednesday, November 24.

The presiding judge, Justice Okon Okon stated that the accused crime was punishable by death under Section 326 (1) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. 2, Laws of Akwa Ibom State, 2000.

Imeobong Edet, who is a brother to the deceased sent the assailants to murder his brother and promised them a part of the landed property if they successfully carried out the crime.

Edet who was arrested alongside the assailants died while in detention and his name was subsequently struck out of the case.

The judge said: “The sentence of this court upon you, Joseph Usen Etim and Christopher Sunday Macaulay, is that each of you, be hanged by the neck until you be dead. May God have mercy on your souls.”
