The killing of innocent residents in Plateau has resurfaced again following the invasion of Te’egbe community in Bassa Local Government Area of the North Central state.

Naija News learned that at least ten people were killed by unknown gunmen during an attack on the community in the early hours of Friday, November 26, 2021.

According to the Miango Youth Development Association spokesman, Nuhu Bitrus, several residents also sustained various degrees of injuries during the attack.

Bitrus added that several houses and properties were set on fire by the gunmen and a search and rescue operation for the victims is still ongoing.

He disclosed that the dead bodies of the residents killed during the attack have been deposited to the mortuary.

He said, “Last night was really another black day for the Rigwe nation as militia attacked Te’egbe village, killed so many people, and injured many others. They also set their houses on fire.

“Right now, we have just counted the bodies of ten persons who were shot dead by the attackers. They are being taken to the mortuary. We also discovered three persons who sustained gunshot injuries.

“Our people are still searching for more victims because the damage done to the community is too much. We will let you know when we are done with the search and rescue operation.”

Confirming the fresh attack, the spokesman of the Plateau Police Command, ASP Obah Ogaba, said more details regarding the incident would be made public.

He said: “We are aware of the attack and will get the details across to you shortly.”
